Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

I have been seeing a psychiatrist for a long time, but I stiil have some issues relating past abusers. My husband says I should just "move on", but in times of stress, I think of some of these past abusers. Some were very physically and emotionally hurtful.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. Just moving on doesn't fix anything, it just buries it so deeply that it takes forever to expose and get over. Want to know how i know this? I did it. I left my abusive marriage seven years ago. Just turned and walked away. No counseling, no therapy, no nothing. Seven years later i'm in a wonderful relationship with a wonderful man, but we hit a stressful time and I started having flashbacks, nightmares, panic attacks. The whole 9 yards. My marriage was mentally, verbally, emotionally, physically and sexually abusive. You can't move on just because you decide to do so. You need help navigating the minefield that is your psyche when it comes to this issue. GET THAT HELP.
your only human and you are a person but after abuse will always be there.
The fact that someone is abused and then they just go on to the next victim is ok because the abuser always gets the sympathy and the person suffering the abuse is expected to sweep it under the carpet and get on with there lifes.
I think your husband is selfish and inconsiderate, tell him to attend counselling on how to deal with and treat an abused wife.
Good luck.
