Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

Is it possible to be friends with someone who emotionally abused you in a relationship?

deleted_user
It may be possible but doesn't sound like a good idea. What's the reason to be friends?

I would like to see him get the help he needs, and see him happy about himself again. I know I could never be in a relationship with him again. But would like to see him know what he has done and not be able to do it again.

I think it is possible as long as you dont let yourself get hurt again.good luck. and be careful.

No. You have to be able to trust your friends and an abuser has already proven themselves untrustworthy.

Well I have decided to not go through with being friends with him. It just wont work, there is no trust there.

I tried that. Turns out even as friends he was still abusive..live and learn.

Who is pushing the "let's be friends" issue - you or him? If it's him, it is a way to get into control again. If it is you, you need to let him get on with his life. Nothing you can do or say now will change him. I know you care about him, but if he wants to change, it's something he is going to have to do on his own. If he doesn't, then it's not worth the emotional toll it will take on you.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
