Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

I found Beau from an ad in a pet supply store. It read "male dog looking for a female to follow around, sit at her feet, and gaze lovingly at her". I met him and knew instantly that he was my dog and that his name was Beau--beautiful male friend. He was exactly as advertised for the 12 years I had him.
I grieved horrible for nearly a year after he died. Spending lunches in my car so I could be alone and cry.
I miss him every day. It was the most unique and precious relationship of my life. I cannot get over the loss and have tried pet loss groups etc. I just cannot accept that he and I are separated. It is not right. We loved each other so much and for the rest of my life I will miss him terribly. I tried getting another dog but it did nothing to lessen the pain. NOTHING.
What do you do when you have lost your Lassie--your miracle dog? How do you go on knowing that you will never have a love like that again. That any other dog will simply be a dog.
I love dogs. But, I don't know if I can ever have one again. It is soawful. My Beau, I will miss him for the rest of my life. I miss him so...........I had know idea that one could have such a profound mutual love affair with an animal. And I know I will never have it again. BEAU!!!??????? Where are you???

Forgot to say that he died 2 and half years ago. Yes, that long ago. I thought the pain would diminish but it doesn't because it is a loss that seems so wrong in my heart.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
