Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
As for what has really helped me is behovor modification. I have to make the choice to get out of bed. I have to choose to go to bed when needed. Therapy has also helped me. I have started what is called Dialective therapy. I really don't know if it is going to work...but I'm trying it. If anything I am starting to see my patterns.
See, if you have BiPolar you are first treated with meds and perhaps therapy will be a good option for your.
If you are BPD then you are treated with therapy first (such as DBT) and then the possiblity of meds.
Since you suffer from both, a starting point may be difficult.
One of the best things you can do is read the symptoms of both and see which one feels more prevelent at the time. Tell this to your tdoc or pdoc or both. Say you feel more BPD, well you can get treatment for this while the BP is laying more dormant.
