I am just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to help him. He is on medication but it only helps a little. Every time we talk he tells me about the new suspicious thing going on in his life. I sometimes avoid calling because I don't know what to say. It hurts me so much and I have a habit of getting mad instead of being understanding. Because I can't understand it. Any advice or support will help. Thank you.

i'm just wondering if your dad has a psychiatrist or a therapist/counsellor ?
i'm wondering if maybe his meds are not working for him or if they need to be increased ?!
paranoia is a hard one for loved ones to deal with. they always have a new thought that someone or something is out to get them.
i would suggest reading up on his illness by googling it. you could also talk to your local health clinic or your doctor for suggestions on how to respond to your dad.
most of all, try to be understanding and patient with your dad. i know how frustrating it can be for you, but just imagine having continuous thoughts that won't stop playing over and over in your head.
