Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.

I have a quesiton dear friends.
My pdoc placed me on Lamictal because i told him i suffered from bipolar. I pretty much self diag'd myself and he went along with it knowing there is something going on, but unsure what 100%.
I have been reevaluating myself and reading BPD and abandoment issues, I've learned alot about this and feel this is more "me" than bipolar as I do not experience lows and highs like a BP I or II.
Do you guys feel that its possible to confuse the two when you think of the mood swings and irritiblity issues? Perhaps mistaking these w/ rapid cycling?
I am seeing my tdoc tomorrow and hope for some clarity. Just was curious if you guys have had trouble in figuring out your diag.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Good luck !!
Bipolar drugs make me crazy. (haha) I can't take them.
If you're on Lamictal and you think you're not BP, talk to your doc about it and get a proper diagnosis and the kind of meds you need. Best of luck!
One thing I did learn from my psychologist is that a person can have multiple disorders but not present the traits for all of them at a given time depending on personal circumstances.

The meds for Bipolar can help BPD some
The two can over lap
With BPD you need to do alot of counciling as well as just drug therapy to see lots of improvement
I know I have both as the meds slowed down my rapid cycling enough to see jsut how f'ed up I m in the bpd world.....
I know hearing "Borderline Personality Disorder" sounds awful, but after doing some studying, I'm thankful for this rather than the BP. It takes time and persistent counceling, but its more focused on getting well naturally instead of always having to find meds/cocktails like you would w/ BP. Best of luck to you sweetie!
