Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
DBT neuro talks about the now and how to change the way you handle stress/mind/environment. It doesnt sit there and make you write a journal about your whole entire life. It functions in the present and you don't have to talk about your emotional past.
DBT is a miracle! I've only been on it a week (yes I know too soon) but the first week coping strategies got me through a traffic jam without a single negative though or feeling.
The Angry Heart is a book that digs deep into your past and surfaces that inner self we all tend to run away from. I have this book but I am waiting to read it around July when I am completely finished with my self, 1-1 tdoc, and group DBTs. As you can see I'm very motivated to do this. My tdoc and I are working out of a self-help workbook. I do one weeks exercises and then when i see her review what i've learned. She can give me insight on anything I might have overlooked. In January I begin a 16 week DBT group course.
We take too much for granted.
