Has anyone taken Ativan before for severe shakes with PD? They gave it to my daughter in the ER the other night and it really got things under control fast. But I hear it might be very addictive, so not good to take on a regular basis.

hi, how many mg.'s did they give her and did she get a script for more? i have essential tremors and have taken xanax for years due to extreme anxiety, my dad has p.d anyhow, the xanax, same type of sedative as ativan, does help my hand tremors alot. yes, it is addictive. yet, like yoohoo said, so what? it is your choice. best of luck

The ativan seems to knock the severe shakes back to normal shakes, if that makes any sense. It was 1mg and they gave me a prescription that included about 7 pills total, no refill. That was in the ER. I haven't talked to regular neuro about it yet.

Not sure what Ativan is exactly, but my hubby takes Klonopin 4x a day. It's kind of like an anti-anxiety drug. Without it he would definately shake. Yes, it's addicting but he is under his neuro's care and she says it's no problem for him to stay on it. He's grateful he has it!! I know it's relaxing because I was having a hard time sleeping and took one and zonked right out.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
