Hello everyone.
My daughter has been in since June '10 and is being released on April 2, 2011. I so want to remain calm and take it one day at a time but at the same time it is scary. She is 27 and will be coming to live with us. I have seen a definite change in her and it has been for the better. Her attitude has improved 100%. She has said it is scary for her too. I know she will need time to adjust to being out. Do any of you know of a support group for those just being released? Anyone have any advice for us?

we are going to try a family counselor, that has experience with this type of situation. Also we have found that talking with other parents helps alot

How wonderful that your daughter is getting out very soon. I know you and she are excited/scared! I cannot wait until I can say I have a month for my daughter to get out. She has at least 4 more years. :( I would appreciate any ideas on support for new releases. My daughter will be 27 when she gets out and living with me too. I would google companies or websites that offer employment options for your state. That might help with the job market. My daughter has said she wants counselling when she gets out, it will be allmost like a post traumatic stress disorder I think. Good luck and welcome...hope you find some answers. Hugs, sharon

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
