read this book, and tell me if it's not your child to the T.
I wager 5 out of 10 parents will see that your child is NOT ADD, or ADHD and is just in need of consistency and courage on your part, to NOT buy into all this AD stuff. also, read up/google Tom Daly.
it's all about consistency and helping your children when they are away from you, which means, time to play, and not do well in school. They have to want it, and it is up to you to help them get there.
I agree, that some kids need meds, but with time, you will notice practicing and normal maturity of your child will improve if you are consistent.
If you are Not consistent, what will work, really now.
Enjoy, Father562

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
But, this book also made me realize that my son needs more than parents alone can give him.
WHEN PARENTS ARE CONSISTENT, EVERYONE -INCLUDING DOCS- ARE TELLING YOU, YOU'RE DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT, AND HE IS STILL OUT OF CONTROL, YOU CAN NO LONGER PIN IT ON THE PARENT.
My son is doing very well now because we regularly visit the psychiatrist (for meds)and psychologist. We implement techniques I've gathered from docs, and special school district teachers and give my son the structure he needs to function.
He's not perfect and DEFINITELY not an automoton, and no longer out of control (mostly).
While I respect you're position that everyone can always do better at parenting, patronizing remarks leave a bitter taste in one's mouth.
