My son is 5 going on 6 in June. He got ISS for lying to his kindergarten teacher yesterday. He supposedly was teasing a little girl over a book and when asked about it the said he didn't. Know it is not acceptable for children to lie but this seemed harsh for a kindergartner. When I confronted the Principal about this she assured me this was the least amount of discipline and if he did it again she would use corporal punishment. I asked "Don't you have to have my permission to do that?" She said absolutely not. All she is required to do is inform me of her actions. I told her I did not agree and she was not to hit my child. She again told me she did not have to have my permission. This makes me so mad and I don't know if I have any recourse for this. I don't think its right that someone has the right to hit my child. Does anyone have any advice. I live in Missouri where corporal punishment is still used.
