We had our conference regarding our daughter's LD testing scores this morning and I'm NOT satisfied! I went into this expecting some results and answers and what I got was "we are going to read to her for 30 minutes a day". How does this help the fact that she is in the 5th grade and reads at a 2nd grade level? There were no clear goals set for her this year and her teacher even asked them "do we have to fail her to get the help she needs?" We did recieve her progress report which was really good for her but they used it against us and said she doesn't really qualify for much. But they have no idea how hard she has to work to get those grades! This is a child that has to have a sticky note to remind her to brush her teeth in the morning, or a dry erase board that tells her to get her agenda signed every night and even with all the reminders her memory retrieveal percentage on the test was at 1st grade level! I'm so confused! Her teacher has been so helpful lately and hugs us every time we see her. She has tried really hard to help her out and even tutors her 2 days a week. She let us know she hasn't been counting all the late assignments as zeros because she knows she actually did them she just forgot to turn them in. So I told her to start giving her the zeros and maybe we will get something done that way! Please can anyone give me some suggestions?????? I don't know what to do we have another conference in February!
