My oldest daughter has recently came to me and asked if her friend, thats a boy, could take her to the movies... my first reaction was to just startrunning around screaming and yelling,BUT I didnt. I simply said let me think about it. I have had the discussion with her that the whole "boyfriend" thing is not allowed! Its ok for her to have friends that are boys and play and them come to our yard and things, but the whole "going out" is not going to happen, she has too many other things to focus on. So, after my head stops spinning and I stop thinking that she is my baby, I tell her that I dont think it is going to be a good idea... and she just starts going but his parents and little sister will be there and I will be perfect all week long... PLEASE! It is the really really wanting something speech... I tell her that I dont think its a good idea right now and inform her that before any boy, friend or whatever, has to ask her father to take her anywhere and we have to meet his parents. That just set her into one of her Drama filled crying things because (her words) "You know dad hates him ... thats not fair... I am never gonna go anywhere" I told her that her dad doesnt know this boy and that was the final word... How else could I handle this?? Does anyone out there agree/disagree that 10 1/2 is too young to go do this with a boy and his family??
