My DD is almost 16 months old, and she has a pretty good vocabulary. I am just wondering if it's too early to push her into using words to express when she wants something rather than whining. For example, she knows how to say "please," but when she wants something she will point and whine, and when I ask her to say "please", she just shakes her head and gets mad. Same thing when she wants to get up, she can say "up" as well and understands the context, but refuses when she is asked. I know she is young so I don't want to be unreasonable and push her unnecessarily, but at the same time, I know she can do it, so part of me thinks maybe we should try to get her to learn to do so. What do you think?
