Preparing A Two Years Old For More Medical Tests

Help! My 2 years old is going into our major city's children's hospital for further medical tests. We are expecting her to be fine. I am more concern about helping her with the process. Has anyone else been here? What can I do to help her?

I haven't been there with a toddler, but I had an infant in the NICU and I have experience working in hospitals (I'm a nurse, although currently I stay home with my daughter)...so I would say contact the hospital. I would expect them to have some good resources for you, some pamphlets they can send out or a liason of some sort you can speak with. There were tons of resources for us as parents when my daughter was in the hospital about how to help her and make her feel safe. Often times you can arrange for a tour of the hospital or sort of a "walk through"...that might be helpful so that your little one can get a bit familiar with the place before she goes there just to get poked and prodded, I've seen that offered at most of the hospitals I worked at (I always worked with adults though, but I would think they would do and probably more for pediatric patients!).

2 is awfully little and my guess is no matter how much preparing you do, she's still going to be anxious and afraid. Definitely take along a comfort object, a snuggly or a stuffed animal...something small and portable that can go along during the testing. Good luck, I hope everything turns out okay!

Well, I was just in the hospital w/ my 2 year old son. I think the best thing a mom can do is just to be as calm and supportive for her child as possible. (Sorry, I'm sure you already knew that!)

    theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
