- lots of snacks
- DVD player with assortment of DVDs (this actually works equally well for my 5 year old and 2 year old. It's like baby crack. I have gotten 4 straight hours of peace....)
- board books
- stickers, stickers, stickers
- bandaids (I know it seems weird, but for some reason my kids loved to play with them, open them, peel them, put them on)
- pipe cleaners - they would create all different kind of shapes
- coloring books
- I also bring their loveys.... silky blanket, whatever I can bring on the plane that could possibly help them sleep.
and when all else fails, Benadryl. My pediatrcian said I could give it to my daughters.... the idea being, that it can make the kids drowsy and let them sleep. But be warned: you should do a test run at home first because some kids get hyped up from it (like mine). You don't want to discover as you are mid-flight that the benadryl perks them up and then they want to run up and down the aisles.
GOOD LUCK.
Don't forget sippy cups and pacifiers (if you use them). A paci and/or a lollipop is good for take-off and landing... it helps their ears if they are sucking on something.
I would try to leave in the evening so that the bulk of travel is during her sleeping hours.
Also, my kids always seem to behave and sleep better if I bring their car seats on the plane. They tend to not want to get up and down as much... I guess because they are use to being in the car so they realize they can't get in and out.
And don't forget a change of clothes for her and YOU! I've been spit up, pooped on, peed on, splattered on... you name it... it's been on my shirt. And that was just from my husband! ;-)
And with that note... don't forget the wipes! and of course, Purell!
