... before I ever post in here.
I have been looking at different forums for parents, and I never found on to post in.
All of the ones I've found have a common thing in common that I dislike. It seems if a person disagrees with the popular opinion, that person seems to get ganged up on. All the forums I've seen states that different opinions are welcomed and all that good stuff, but when it actually happens... it isn't that way at all.
I know opinions about parenting are very strong in most cases, and ppl are usually passionate about them. I just worry that if I have a different opinion about something, things will go down hill.
To be honest I've seen a thread in here already that was well on that path... is this a normal thing? Can I disagree with popular opinion and be able to express why?

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I would say that anywhere you go, as you mentioned, when it has to do with parenting and differing styles, you will always face some sorts of clashes in opinion. While some are adept at voicing their disagreement in a manner that is non-pejorative, there are others that are a bit more blunt and taken as rude, even if they are not exactly trying to be that way. Reading someone's opinions makes it sometimes difficult to 'hear' the tone in which they are speaking. While someone might well-meaning, their words could be perceived as rude.
Then, of course there are some that are purposely and outrightly rude. Or threaten.
Since this, as well as any internet forum is a sampling of the population, you are going to be faced with a little bit of everything.
It shouldn't discourage you from stating your opinion. You might have to defend it, but then that should just add to the discussion and make for a more valid argument.
But all in all, this community and Daily Strength collectively are very supportive internet environments and for the most part, most people try to be respectful of one another.
I look forward to hearing your comments and opinions!
Good luck!
I hope that people like me don't scare you from posting. I do like to hear different opinions on things even though the tone of some of my replies don't make it seem that way.

LOL
Naggie....
I thought you did that on purpose.
I weren't referring to you at all...
I was actually thinking of my own responses in the past that could have been misconstrued as mean-spirited (though, knowing me, they probably were...)
Thanks for replying, I do appreciate it :)
If you were I'd let you know! And if someone gives you any crap, sling it right back
