I understand how you feel. I agree, kids should not be put infront of TV as a babysitter, but sometimes you NEED a break! There are plenty of shows on now that are MUCH better than the cartoons I watched constantly as a small child, and I did not grow up to be bad, mental or having a short attention span! I enjoy watching many shows WITH my daughter as well, we sing, dance and it really helps get through a day especially if the weather is bad! Everything in moderation, including TV as well as food and everything else! Gets a bit under my skin as well, if I am feeling bad (cold or the flu) and I let my child watch Little Einstiens for 20 min so I can have a cup of coffee and just rest a minute I am a bad mom? I THINK NOT!

i agree that u have to watch with ur kids and explain the good and bad in cartoons now a days ask kids is that nice to do do u like that done to u and etc. my kid likes dancing to music and mostly plays with tv in background fussies if i turn it off.

I agree !! Have you hear the in Australia instead of Santa saying HO HO HO they want him to say HA HA HA because HO HO HO may be offensive to girls. O mean come on now, they also want to change the HI HO song form Snow White because of the word HO. I'm sorry but this is crazy.

I agree with all of you... I think that "censorship" has gone too far. However, regarding the reference to my previous post about Spongebob... I think that it is a fine show for children to watch, just not my one year old and two year old who are a bit too young to understand reason, as far as me attempting to explain a cartoon to them. Sesame Street, however, is a perfect example of what IS appropriate for, say, a 2 year old, as are many of the other programs that are geared toward VERY young children, that need no explaination of their content.

the only people that seem to have a problem with the "hidden messages" of sesame street are the parents who are able to interprate what bert and ernie's living situation into a homosexual lifestyle.
When I was 4 years old that thought never crossed my mind. I just thought it was funny everytime bert was trying to sleep and ernie would play the drums or sing a song.
It is such a shame that there is always some mother who has something jammed up her ass and has to ruin something for my child.

My theory is if you don't like it or don't approve of it, SHUT THE DAMN TV OFF!!!

They just released some of the original ones on DVD and I plan on buying it.

Cookie Monster has switched to oatmeal cookies instead of chocolate chip. : ) He ate chocolate chip ones when I was growing up but I certainly can't blame him for the fact that I love chocolate chip cookies. Poor Cookie Monster. Pretty soon he'll be forced to change his name to Veggie Monster.

On the Santa thing. They are also saying that Santa has to get skinny because it is making kids fat.. I think that the world has gotten way over board on this fat thing. What they used to do back in the olden days still will work today. Get the kids outside and off of the computer, and away from the TV for long periods of time, and they will not eat much, and they will also exercise more and lose the weight, or not gain any. I thought that it was really amezing as a kid that Santa was so fat and was able to get down the chimmey, and able to get out as well. So why reck it for the kids now? Everything is always so politically correct now days, sure takes the fun away...

Nothing wrong with Sesame Street. Personally, I like Spongebob, but think it is a little more adult oriented. Noggin is watched a lot here. My kids love Scooby Doo, and Wow wow wubzy, Franklin. Letting your kids watch Tv does not make you a bad parent. But watching tv for hours on end is not good. I am not a big video game fan either, but in moderation it's fine. As long as it is not full of violence, cursing, etc.
