I know I'm not the first parent nor the last to have had a son or daughter call them a "stupid b---h." But it happened to me today. Needless to say, I was dumbfounded! I surely would have fallen to the floor had I not been in bed when I heard those words being muttered under his breath. That your son/daughter (or anyone for that matter) could even come close to such a thought about you is shocking and deeply troubling, to say the least. Our family dynamics have for years (he's 14) been tense and angst-ridden and there have been ongoing issues with school, both academic and behavior related. He has never shown much respect for my authority, but he'll listen to his father (sometimes). Needless to say, our family is in trouble and I'm afraid things will only go downhill from here. Your thoughts and recommendations are very much welcomed. Thank you.
