as for the actual problem of getting him dressed, see if you can create a rewards system. I made a visual chart and when my son took off or put on clothes (we had this problem both ways), he would be able to move the velcroed picture of the shirt from TO DO to DONE. If he did them all without too much struggle, he got to read a book with one of us. He really liked it and we finally were able to take away the visual.
For your grandson, you may want to create something with a faster rewards system: Maybe a sticker for each article of clothing, and if he gets done easily, five minutes to play with his cars (or whatever else he's into) before heading out the door (obviously planning the time into your schedule.)
