Ever since my daughter learned to crawl a few weeks ago, she has been having the hardest time settling down for sleep. Naps especially, which have always been a bit of a challenge, but also at night, which used to be a breeze. It's like she wants to sleep but her body is so revved up she can't. She sleeps on her belly and I used to lay her on her belly and rub her back if she was having a hard time getting to sleep, well, now she can have her eyes closed and still be pushing up to crawl and sit up. She will literally crawl around her crib sobbing because she is so tired, or sit up and sob with her eyes closed. The last few mornings I have had to spend way more time than I am used to rocking her to sleep in my arms. If I put her down in her crib awake and leave, which 70% of the time used to lead to her putting herself to sleep, she just sits up and cries for me to come back. I don't begrudge her the extra time if it's what she needs, but I do feel really bad for her that she is so tired and can't seem to turn her little engine off. Any suggestions? I don't practice cry it out and am not interested in starting, so please don't go there.
