Pregnancy Weight Loss...

Are you still fighting to get off the pregnancy weight?
I put on about 2 and a half stone and immediately dropped just over a stone after the birth, but then put on about 7 more lbs and have stuck there ever since. I was about a stone overweight when I fell pregnant. I would ideally like to drop a stone and a half and would like to hear from other mums who are trying to loose that pregnancy weight and are struggling. I don't need to be ultra skinny
a-la-Victoria (Beckham), but I would like to feel normal again.
I had an unplanned C-section which was a bit of a shock - unfortunately you are not able to exercise for 12 weeks after the op and even then things are really wierd - all numb around the middle and an unnattractive 'flap' of stomach is just sitting there (sound familiar?). Getting time to myself to exercise is quite difficult as my partener is working away a lot at the moment. I would like to go swimming, but there is noone who can look after my daughter while I do this - so I need to think of something else. I have never been a great fan of exercise and getting back into it is difficult once you stop - I really need to push myself. You need will power - something I am not good at -especially where chocolate is concerned! (sound familiar?).
I have attempted to diet a couple of times after I finally gave up breastfeeding after 4 months of struggling. My daughter is now 5 months old and I need to loose some weight to ensure I regain my self-esteem and confidence. I absolutely love being a Mum and just look at my lovely daughter every day and wonder at what a beautiful gift she is.
Is there anyone out there feeling the same? Perhaps we can encourage and support each other to set and meet some goals.
Look forward to hearing from you.

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I started out breastfeeding, supplimenting with bottles. now that I no longer breast feed I can concentrate on weight loss, but cannot get myself motivated as I havent ever been a big fan of exercise either! lol
by the way...what is a 'stone'?? =)
tag---your it =)
I agree that Motivation is the biggest hurdle. I was quite good when I was pregnant and forced myself to go swimming once or twice a week right up until 40 weeks - even though I was getting really funny looks from the other pool-goers - they probably thought I should be in hospital or worried that I might have a water birth there and then! But I don't seem to be able to regain that resolve now.
Today I have started a new endevour to loose 15lbs to start with - that is what my daughter weighs now. I am going to aim to loose 2lbs per week so that I don't loose too quickly and put it all back on again at Christmas. I should, therefore, loose half a stone by Christmas. I am setting realistic goals so that I don't give up, I tried a couple of weeks ago - lost nothing in a week - gave up and put on 3lbs!

It's a difficult thing but it really does start to affect my self esteem.
Sounds like you are coming to the point where you may need to think about giving up breastfeeding - I understand that guilt only too well and the 'this will be the last time' thing as I had my daughter at 44 and have had a birthday since - so I am 45 and unlikely to have another child so I have to cherish every moment with her. It is a dillemma, but when you do eventually decide to give up, don't beat yourself up like I did, you have given your child the best and if you are happy and have high esteem that is good for your child too.

If you are in the UK or get this on Sky - watch the programme - 'How to Look Good Naked' - which tackles the subject of women's negativity about their body image and helps women to dress to compliment their body shape. It is quite interesting that most women think that they are bigger than they actually are.
Went shopping in a huge Tescos today and resisted buying ANY bad things. Yippee - small victory!
Lets keep in touch and keep each other motivated to achieve what we want to and raise our collective self esteem to the roof!
