first baby - need advice from experienced moms

I have a beautiful 10 week old daughter. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage at 18 weeks and then immediately got pregnant with this recent pregnancy. Because of that, I was 50 pounds heavier than my normal weight at delivery (I had gained 15 pounds with the first pregnancy and didn't lose it before immediately getting pregnant the second time and gaining an additional 35 pounds). I've already lost 30 pounds but my body is so different - my stomach muscles are stretched out and I have a big pooch, loose skin and stretch marks, huge thighs, and still a pretty round face. I'm wondering how long it has taken women to get as close to normal again after their pregnancies and what should be a realistic expectation (because all of the famous people look fantastic the day they leave the hospital, and that sure can't be normal!!) I'm dieting and exercising daily (no longer breastfeeding for medical reasons - I had to resume a medication not compatible with breastfeeding). Any tips or advice would be appreciated, because I feel very distraught by the image I'm seeing in the mirror!! I'm only 9 pounds heavier than when I got pregnant with the second pregnancy but still not fitting into those pre-pregnant jeans =(

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I gave birth in May to my daughter. I gained 50 pounds during the pregnancy. I was lucky and was able to stay home the entire summer, so I didn't have to worry about work clothes and all that.
By the end of the summer I was back to just about my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm continuing to do crunches and work out when I can, and I do a lot of walking and watch what I eat. I can wear regular clothes again, too....for a little while there I could only fit into my maternity clothes or baggy t-shirts, etc.
You'll get there! Be patient. I didn't breastfeed either. I was told that those who breastfeed lose their pregnancy weight faster, but I don't know if this is a myth or not.
Good Luck, and congrats on your daughter!!!
Do you work out, or know a lot about nutrition? If not, maybe take a few training session or go to a nutritionist. Maybe that would help?!? Good luck!
I put on 75 lbs with DD. It took me 6 mos. to loose it all and the same week I found out I was preggers again...I have only put on 25 lbs with this one. I have stretch marks on the inside of my thighs down to my knees from DD and I had the tummy even after loosing every pound...plus I gained a wonderful set of 'love handles' that i dont love so much.
I started dieting the day I gave birth. Which is not recommended..but I am still alive. I did not breastfeed which enabled me to push myself a little more. I did slim fast for 3 weeks to do that 'fast weight drop' that always happens when you first start dieting. Then after that I only ate when I was hungry and only ate until i was satisfied even if it meant not finishing my plate or not eating with the family because i wasnt hungry. I did not have time to exercise due to returning back to work...but my job requires a lot of walking and standing...for 12 hours at a time...so i did sort of exercise.
For your last 9 pounds...try changing your diet. Usually a change in diet can start the process again. then after that its just toning back up to pre-prego body...which can take time. Google some excersies for your problem spots...i.e. your thighs. Then post again for those like me that need those excersies as well and let us know what works best! Good luck to you...and everyone else trying to loose baby weight!
If you only weigh 9lbs more right now I think you are doing great! By the following summer (a yr later) I was back in a bikini with no marks but I must say my stomach is not as toned as before I was pregnant, though I've not really made an effort either.
I did breast feed for quite a while but it sounds like I was in no better shape then you are. Give your body some time though - you are still healing and things are still moving back in place.
