Carried away by recent reports how disposables are bad for babies' skin I decided to try cloth. My son's 15 mo and we never had a single problem with disposables. So full of pride I bought 6 of Happy Heiny one size diapers and tried them on yesterday. The first one leaked after 3 h - just pee but we needed a complete change of clothes. The second one was a poopy diaper but kinda cereal consistency. So I couldn't just dump into toilet and flush and I couldn't put it into laundry like that either. I washed it in my bathroom sink and some pieces of poo (sorry TMI) almost clogged the sink. There I was using some stick to push it through. Oh and that diaper leaked so we changed everything again. The third diaper was just wet but leaked again after 2 h. Another change of clothes. This all happened before 2pm. At this point I packed them all up and went back to disposables. I don't know, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Literally everyone I know is happy with cloth diapers but we just had the worst experience with them. Oh and the ones we got are of some fleece-like material and really seem hot to me to be worn in summer. If someone has any advice about using cloth and thinks they could make it work in the situation I described let me know. But seriously I imagined some kind of cottony material, not fleece, and some inserts you put close to the body (so you can wash them separately) and not inside the diaper pouch.
