Hi everyone, I am new to this community and to parenting. My son arrived this past friday, November 2nd, and he is my first. I am so happy and did not know just how different motherhood would make me feel. Yeah, I know I have a long way to go, but I am totally excited. I had a hard pregnancy toward the end (read my journal for in depth detail). My son was born a preemie (3 weeks early) and I was just wanting to know if anyone else has had an early arrival. He weighed 4lbs and 5oz. I would greatly appreciate any advice on any and all things I should know about special care of preemies and of parenting...what works best? Well, this is getting long and I hope to make some new friends in the same boat as me...even if you are not, would still love to chat. :D

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
What works best.....
What works best is whatever works best, if you know what I mean.
Trial and error will be the mantra for a while. A good book on what to expect for the next year as a guideline would be helpful, as well.
I don't know that I have any advice to give you on what works. Lots of love & holding seems to work. It sounds like your baby is healthy, so that's the first step!
I'm sure you've chosen a great pediatrician, and he/she will likely want to make sure that your baby is gaining weight efficiently.
Enjoy your son & get rest where you can. I know it's not much in the way of advice, but I hope it helps :)
Congratulations to you and your family...what a joy. Although your ped. will certainly watch for any specific issues, please note that in this age, 37 weeks is considered full-term. So enjoy and try and get some occasional sleep.
