My third child who is 8 (in 2nd grade) has always been behind in reading. In kindergarten he was not even interested in learning his alphabet, let alone start to read. For example, he insisted that an "a" was a circle with a tail and created his own alphabet names. He is finally starting to catch on, but nightly reading is a CHORE. He doesn't seem to have any learning disabilities, from what teachers can tell, just motivation problems. What motivation tools have you used to interest and UNINTERESTED child in reading?
