Hi all,
I have been part of the divorce community for awhile, but I find that my attention and focus is more on raising my 8 year old son pretty much on my own and all the challenges that come with that reponsibility. Homework, getting him to get up and get ready for school on time, arguing with me when it is time to come in from play, etc. He is also an only child. I have 3 other parent friends who have only children. We all agree that we keep them busy and involved in activities with other chidren. The real and only problem at this point is minding me and being respectful. Anybody have any thoughts or comments on this ongoing adventure?
Have a great day

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
About the not minding, and not being respectful... there would be something wrong with him if he didn't act this way. The JOB of an 8 yo is to challenge the authority of his parent(s). Not to say you shouldn't still work on it with him, but there is certainly nothing wrong. good luck!
