So last night I couldn't sleep and I was on the edge of getting anxious. My boyfriend told me to try meditation, start breathing real slow and through my abdomen and start focusing on a relaxing place thinking about only the pleasant emotions. Usually when I try to relax I just get more anxious but last night it worked and this is how I did it. I would completely dismiss my anxious thoughts! It was amazing at first it was really hard but then I finally felt in control of my thoughts. I was trying to focus and imagine that I'm at the beach and I was just feeling the soft breeze, and then all od the sudden I would get an anxious thought in like "what if soon I will get an attack," then I would dismiss that thought and keep focusing more and more and more. I focused stronger every time I had a negative anxious thought. Soon, it worked, I actually felt relaxed. I felt like I beat anxiety. Today I did the same thing while taking a bath. The breathing helps a lot too! I know a few of you are probably like wow she just discovered it, but yes I always thought the breathing and meditation were a bunch of mumbo jumbo, but it actually worked for me so I just wanted to share that in case someone else wants to try it but is hesitant. Peace!
