I don't have health insurance, but ended up going to the ER a few weeks ago because of a panic attack. I get them almost daily, but this one was really hard to get it to stop. Anyways, all they did was give me a prescription for ativan and sent me on my way. But the thought of taking this when I dont know how it is going to react with me sends me into a panic attack so i havent taken it yet. So does anyone take this, if so how does it make you feel? are you able to watch your children if you have any? One of my main concerns is that I wont be able to care for my 17 month old son.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
sedation is common but is generally cancelled out by the panic, some experimenting is needed to get the dose right
dont worry about the child you will cope
I understand what you are going through as far as taking a pill. I have never liked taking pills, but sometimes they help. I was prescribed Ativan when I had my first panic attack. It was the only thing that got me through the two weeks before my Paxil started working. I have been taking Ativan recently to help me sleep. It makes me drowsy, but any med that says my cause drowsiness, usually knocks me out. The only way you will know is to take one and see how you feel. It will definitely help the panic. As far as your son, maybe you can find someone you trust to watch him for a little while while you see how the ativan effects you.

My panic attacks are so bad I can't even leave my home some times.
I hope things start to get better for you.
Oh BTW I do not have insurance either. I go to a low cost Doctor here in town and if you would like help finding one where you are, I would be happy to talk about it with you.
