Maybe it would ease your mind to do some research on oral herpes. A lot of website and health educators try to "scare" people out of doing things where they can contract it. But it's pretty hard to come by from kissing. Especially if he doesn't have a visible outbreak around his mouth.
As for mono, the good news is that worst case scenerio its not a life threatening thing! I was scared I had mono a few months back because I kissed someone who had it! Ends up I didn't get it (a lot of people are immune to it). And you'd probably know if this guy has mono, right?
In my opinion, you shouldn't be nervous about contracting things by kissing as long as you're responsible. People who run around kissing 10 total strangers a night are probably more prone to pick something up -even if its just a cold - than someone how only kisses a person that SHE wants to kiss on occasion.

Try to enjoy it! Maybe that will help ease your anxiety when you kiss him :)

But I'm feeling a bit better now. Thank you!
