My daughter has been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, all her problems started after her gall bladder surgery. TWO years ago they found she had bile duct obstruction, they went in by ERCP and fixed that problem, after about six months the pain came back and she just could not function, I took her to doctor after doctor and then she was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis by EUS. AFTER that the doctor's were not doing anything for her so I took her to Mayo clinic and they said she had chronic pain syndrome. WE Thought everything was going to be fine, she started gaining a little weight and then after six months the chronic pain came back and she no longer could function, she had to drop out of nursing school. THE Doctors did another EUS WITH a block and again she is diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. It has been 3 weeks and I am still waiting on the doctor to contact me with a treatment plan for her. SHE HAs lost so much weight, in pain all the time, and she has become homebound. My question is, what treatment plan is out there to help her cope. ARE there additional tests they need to run, I do know she should have a nutritionist. I am at my wits end. I want to find a doctor that just treats patients with pancreatitis and knows what needs to be done next. I am willing to take her out of the state for treatment if I have to. If anyone can give me some advice, I would appreciate it.
