Any advice on what to do when your GI doctor won't treat your pancreatitis attacks because your amylase and lipase levels come back normal and whatever radiology procedure that was ran doesn't show enlargement or masses? I have had several accute attacks over the past couple of years. Since December I've been in a pancreatitis nightmare because all the tests now come back normal when I think Im having an attack but I KNOW this is pancreas pain. The last CT I had done showed enlarged lymph nodes under my liver which is the only reason why my GI doc sent me to another GI doc to get an EUS and told that doctor to take a look at my pancreas while he was in there since I was so persistent that it was pancreas related. Turned out my lymph nodes were fine but my pancreas is full of scar tissue so that GI doctor diagnosed me with chronic pancreatitis. Before I could follow up with my GI doctor on what happens next (because he had to reschedule my appointment which seems to happen almost every time)I had another severe attack that started last Saturday and by Wednesday night was so severe drinking at eating was unbearable. Went to the ER and FINALLY even though all my tests were normal the ER doctor admitted me to give my pancreas the rest it needed. Unfortunately when my GI doc came the next morning to see me his exact words were "all your enzyme levels and xrays do not show its a pancreas attack so you need to eat lunch and if tolerated you will be discharged". So I ate, and was immediately in pain and had to ask for naseau and pain medicine (dilatid which does elminiate my pain) and the nurse comes back awhile later and said you are still being discharged, just eat soft foods when you get home. I ask if Im at least being sent home with pain meds, and she says no just do what you having been doing at home. DUH! I told her the reason I came to the ER was because what I am doing at home (hyoscymine) is not working! She just shrugged and walked out of the room. Sorry for such a long post but Im so frustrated and its like nobody believes me. Im just not sure what to do next. In the meantime, with the little bit of rest my pancreas got the pain is not as severe, but it's still there.
