When my son gets into one of his rages he says anything that he thinks will make you angry or upset. He's been known to say (and remember-he's five): "I hate my life", "You're mother eats cat poo" (direct quote for scooby doo-thanks)"When I get bigger I'm gonna kick your butt!" and others. Lately, he's been saying things that, in an older child, might raise alarms at school and possibly get him suspended. Last week he said, "When I get older, I'm gonna shoot everybody" He talks about kill and hate and shoot alot when angry. I know I can't correct him when he's in a rage, but has anyone else found a way to replace that angry talk into something a little less scary? I talk with him about it and try to remind him that we can't say things like that, but really, how much good is that gonna do?
