My dd is 8 1/2 and has ODD. She's not been diagnosed with anything else as of yet. I am working with a therapist who is teaching me parenting techniques to try to modify her behavior. We have had some success with that. She often has episodes of very hyper behavior where it seems she can't calm down. She runs through the house squealing or screaming, usually while chasing her 4 yr. old brother, who thinks this is so much fun. Well, it isn't fun for me. It really gets on my nerves. She giggles a lot, which I know is common for a girl her age, but she just can't seem to get it under control. The therapist says that she's had to try to control herself at school all day and that is very hard for her, so it's normal to blow off steam like this. She does it on the weekends, too, esp. if she's bored. These are the times when she's most disrespectful and cannot be reasoned with. If I try to say anthing to her to calm her down (always in a calm voice), she usually mocks me. She has never been medicated. I was wondering if anyone else had experience like this and had advice on how to deal with it.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
So what should we do hey? lol
