Can anyone help please?

My eldest son is almost 12 and I am about at the end of my tether with his behaviour. I don't really know if he suffers from ODD, so wondered if anyone might be able to help. He recently started secondary school, I managed to get him into a private school on a scholarship because he is very intelligent, but he is now in danger of being asked to leave due to his behaviour.
He turns up late for his classes, does not bring the appropriate equipment with him and can not sit still in class. He shouts out, fidgets and appears to have a serious attitude problem. I was hoping that all this was to do with his age but now that it is threatening his education I feel like I have nowhere to turn. He is of the opinion that he is right and EVERYBODY else is wrong. He will argue his point until you're seething with him, and cannot see anyone elses point of view.
He has no respect for adults, and will often "accidentally" forget to do something asked of him, and sometimes deliberately goes out of his way to do the opposite of what he is told. He believes the world revolves around him, that he is the only person who matters and that his way is the right way, regardless.
I have been searching the net for a child psychologist in our area to assess him, but don't seem to have a lot of luck.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
even though some might sya your child enjoys being a pain, believe he is not enjoying it, he is struggling and he does not want to act like that,
