Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.

Hi,I'm KLBK,I am 47yrs.old and have had ocd since I was 6yrs.old.I am doing fine though, but our 26yr.old son,MBK, has been going through a really hard time. He's had ocd since he was 7yrs.old,but became severe when he turned 19,since then we have taken him to numerous doctors, and he has been on every ssri out there, with no relief,he has never been able to work, which has been so hard for him,he always tells the doctors he's the rennassiance man of ocd,you name it and he has had it.Right now he has been stuck in the house for over 2 months, he can't go on his computer, because he developed so many rituals, before he could get on the computer, that he just could'nt do it anymore.Every hobby he's tried to do,ocd finds a way to sabatoge it,so right now all he can do is watch t.v.,which he said most of the time, he's just sitting there, thinking about what he wished he could be doing, like listening to music, which use to be a great escape for him,but ocd took that too. We see a new psychiatrist on Nov. 26th,which seems so far away, we are so hoping he can help MBK, he has even been considering a new procedure called gamma knife surgery. He's sleeping right now, which he always says that's the only time he has relief. He told me, he feels he just can't hardly go on anymore. I know I'm his mom, so forgive me if it sounds like I'm bragging, but he is the sweetest, kindest, and most caring person you could ever meet, and also very handsome, although he would argue with that.He has always hoped to find a good Chrstian lady, but always says, " Mom nobody would want me with what I have". I always tell him that's not true, that whoever he marries will be lucky to have him. He just feels like there's no hope for him. If any of you could please send him some words of encouragement,I would truly appreciate it, and if anybody needs someone to talk to,I'll certainly be glad to listen. Thanks so much, and everybody hang in there!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
My boyfriend of 5 years is amazing and i told him about all my quirks and all and hes been amazing. I wake him up all the time having panic attacks about whats in my head and he handles all my compulsions and obsessive behaviours. Tell your son that he will find someone who is gonna love him for him. wish you all the best
