I was just wandering, do people, when their OCD is severe ever have to be hospitalised?
Its just mine seem to be spiralling out of control, and was just wandering, is this an illness that can be treated by being in hospital? Or do you just need meds and psychotherapy? It's all new to me...

I was hospitalized when my OCD got out of control...it gave me some time to try out meds and be constantly watched...sometimes it's what someone needs. good luck~

I was hospitalized before I knew I had OCD...bad experience, but better because I learned a lot from where I went after getting the right treatment. Don't get dependent on the meds, you can do this yourself!

I was hospitalized before I was diagnosed with ocd, worst experence to this day. No one understood and kept telling me to snap out of it and act normal. I was also hospitalized in Boston at Mclean after I got out of the other hospital. It was a residental building just for OCD so it was nice to see that I was not alone. I met many many friends that I still keep in contact with. I was there for about 3 months.

The last time I was hospitalized, my OCD had gotten out of control, although I was admitted for other reasons. An overdose, for instance. Anyway, for the first time in my life, I had to call my therapist one morning and tell her I was completely out of control, and she told me to come in immediately. Only then did I tell her of my OCD.

Ocd has a lot of treatments. For me what worked best was being on this web site. All the support is wonderful, and it helps knowing you are not alone.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
