Obesity Support Group
This community is dedicated to those of us struggling with obesity. Obesity is thought to be a significant risk factor in certain health conditions, leading to increased mortality. Find the support you need by sharing your story, asking questions, and learning from others on how they have coped.

Here is a very simple reality check:
Cut one yard of the prettiest ribbon or lace that you can find... just one yard. That is 36 inches. Now everytime you feel fat, just wrap it around your waist like a belt...
IF THE ENDS DO NOT MEET chances are you just might be obese...
If you can tie a pretty little bow, you are in the wrong group here... this is the obesity group... it is a life challenge support group.
Living with obesity presents a wide range of daily struggles... everything from dealing with the social stereotypes to the physical problems and things non-obese people simply have no clue about...
We don't just FEEL fat, we ARE fat. Big difference...
YOUR ILLUSION of obesity is OUR REALITY.
And most importantly, this is NOT a "pro-ana" group. Anorexia is a very serious eating disorder. And there are groups here on DS that may be very beneficial to help each of you on your road to recovery...
I'm not directing this to any one person... there is more than one person with anorexia hiding in our midst.
I just find this very scary... how can we support each other and encourage each other in our weight loss efforts, to post helpful tips and the whatnots knowing there are people suffering from anorexia pretending they are obese seeking our help and support to do theirselves bodily harm???

A friend sent this to me..As far as I can see, grief will never truly end.It may become softer overtime, more gentleand some days will feel sharp. But grief will last as long as Love does - ForeverIt's simply the way the absence of your loved onemanifests in your heart. A deep longing accompaniedby the deepest Love some days. The heavy fog mayreturn and the next day, it may recede.Once again, it's...

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE SHARING MY FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS WITH PEOPLE WHO DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW WE FEEL.
I REFUSE TO SPEND MY TIME ON HERE TRYING TO CONVINCE SOMEONE THEY ARE NOT FAT AND GIVING THEM WARM FUZZIES IN THE HOPES THEY WON'T HURT THEMSELVES (WHEN WE KNOW THEY ALREADY HAVE!). I WILL NOT LET THEIR ISSUES CLOUD HOW I SEE MYSELF OR MAKE ME FEEL BAD ABOUT MYSELF. I AM BETTER THAN THAT AND DESRVE BETTER THAN THAT, WE ALL DO. I'VE REPORTED THE 2 I AM AWARE OF BUT IF MORE PEOPLE DON'T NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.
please re-read this post... your illusion is our reality.
I REALLY DO WISH YOU WELL... I see you comment that you would like to try that lemon diet and that MAKES ME SCARED FOR YOU... my best friend from college is a recovering anorexic, so I know what you are up to... you are hanging out with the fat girls hoping we will cheer you on to weight loss as well as looking for new hints and tidbits that could help you reach your goal. Belonging to this group reinforces the illusion to help you believe something that is not real. It puts you deeper into your illness... and farther away from the hope of recovery.
I also know how dangerous trying something so drastic as the lemon diet can do to your delicate messed up from years of starvation and purging can do... can you spell HEART FAILURE from messed up electrolites???
And the next time you think that you really are obese, try the ribbon test... then tell yourself that you are okay.
Geez, here is another little reality test you can do every time you use the toilet... can you reach to wipe yourself okay? Now imagine you can't reach... some of us stretch and strain to wipe... some of us use handheld tools... (Goggle bariatric aids, yes they sell tools for people who can't reach.)
So you can PRETEND all you want, but you don't know what it is like... and understandably, it does upset people who come here to share intimate details of life struggles.
PLEASE FIND THE ROAD TO RECOVERY... I'm writing this here in a public forum instead of replying via message... there are groups here to help you RECOVER... there is an eating disorders group and a nutrition group, both could help you RECOVER and be on the road to wellness.
Anorexics do not belong in the obesity group any more than say, teenagers belong in the senior citizens group... they may FEEL old, but are NOT old, therefore it is not right... does this make sense???
I wish you well... just HERE does not help you recover... it helps you sink deeper into your illness.

i know how inappropriate this sounds but when you mentioned the tiolet probelms I had to smile ~~~ thought it was just me being clueless
IF YOU THINK THAT YOUR IDEAL WEIGHT IS say 100 pounds, and obesity is defined as 30% over ideal weight, then you REALLY ARE, by that definition OBESE.
So okay... you win... you can be whatever you want to be... from now on, I will consider you obese.
Under one condition: if you want to play fat girl, then you need to learn how.
Don't worry... we will teach you how to be a fat girl, then you will fit in and no more problems, hey? I'll start a new thread on how to fit in with a group of fat people so others can add some helpful hints to and maybe it will help the other anorexics who hang out here, too.
