We always talk about our 'goal weight' and I know a lot of folks who try not to think of the big goal but try smaller goals like a few pounds at a time. I was wondering if I'm the only one that set 'short term' and 'long term' goals for myself other than pounds lost. I'm sure some of them would sound silly to folks that don't walk in my shoes. One of those goals is that it won't be so darn hard to get to those shoes to tie them..lol.One of my long term goals is to be able to just go into a store and buy clothes 'off the rack' in a regular women's section. I want to have more 'lap' for my grandbabies to sit on. These are just a few of mine, anyone else wanna share theirs? Have a great day all and be happy!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
My son got upset last night. I have a rule that if they get a snack after supper, they have to eat all of two items on their plates. He tends to pick at his supper and expect to get to fill up on snacks afterwards. I'm trying to break that habit by forming healthier habits with food. I don't want it to be a constant struggle with them and I also don't want to be viewed as a food nazi. My daughter is getting much better at accepting the healthy eating. She generally cleans her plate and gets one snack afterwards. Though, I no longer try to make them clean their plates. I recently took them to the doctor to try and figure out the best way to help them eat healthy and help my daughter lose a bit of weight. He told me not to count their calories and he said to avoid being a food nazi. They can have the foods they like, but in moderation. He also said not to force them to eat anything. He has children and he said he sits them down to eat healthy meals. They can choose whether or not to eat them. However, he also has rules about snacks afterwards. If they don't eat some of the healthy foods served to them, they don't get snack. I'm trying that approach.
Right now, it's hard because it's still new. I'm sure it will get easier though.
Wow, I've rambled and went a little past the small goal topic!
Small goals:
1)I'd like to get my family accustomed to eating healthy without it being a constant struggle.
2)I'd like to finally get adjusted to this new way of eating and stick with a scheduel without numerous blunders.
3)I want Christams to hurry up and get here so I get my treadmill!! My exercise routine is finally starting to even out into routine status instead of being done in here and there sperts.
4) I want to be able to wear regular sized clothing.
5) I want to influence my sister and mother to start eating healthier. My mother is on the verge of diabetes and my sister is very obese (did I mention that I hate that word?) She eats a LOT of fast food and I tend to blame her husband for most of it. He likes to eat out and talks her into it nearly on a daily basis even when she says she doesn't want to go.
6) I want to get rid of this "back fat". I have to say that out of all the areas on my body that contain fat, that particular area seriously gets to me. You know what I mean. The two rolls of fat on each side of your back!
7) I'm all for enjoying holiday meals like Thanksgiving and Christmas without calorie counting. After all, they only come once a year. However, this Thanksgiving I ended up bringing home way too many left overs and ended up eating over my maintenance calories for 3 days instead of only on the holiday. In light of that, I am setting a goal to not bring home ANY left overs from the Christmas family meal.
I'm sure I have many more smaller goals. They're too numerous to list them all!
Would also love to be able to put my socks on EVERY DAY without having to ask for help from my wife.
