I was pondering this thought last night and wish I has sat down to write it out then, hopefully I can remember how I wanted to say this!
What will the future American look like? Have you ever given this a thought? With gastric bypass, lap band surgery and probably a future weight loss pill, will anyone look like me in 50 years? Most likely not. Nobody will be fat! Pictures of me now will be looked at like people in a freak show.
Here in America, almost anything is possible if you have enough money. You can change you hair color, change your eye color, change your teeth, straighten out your jaw so you no longer have an under bite or over bite. Heck, even little people are choosing to lengthen their arms and legs with surgery! Flat chested woman can have boobs, men with boobs can have pecs, woman with boobs can have even bigger boobs, men with no butt can have bigger butts. No calf muscles? No problem! Born with an extra finger or toe? Just have it cut off. Is your face sagging and your eyes droopy? Have a face lift. Maybe you don't like your wrinkles, just get some botox and maybe a lip filler to plump up those lips while your at it.
America is becoming the land of the perfect or you just don't fit in. (I never did anyway!)
With mixed marriages or unions, there will be no African Americans, Mexican Americans, White Americans, Native Americans, etc left in about 100 or so years. People from France, China, Africa, Japan, etc. may just say about us, "Americans? I don't know, they all look alike to me!"
Guess as long as we have no defective people and we all get along, that's what will count in the long run.....glad I won't be here!

Interesting thought! Maybe once we all look perfect, we'll figure out it's what's on the inside that really matters anyway. Have a good rest of the weekend!

i read a book like the society you were describing, only they were motified to make sure nobody was any better than anyone else, etc...smart ppl made stupid, strong ppl added weights to them to make them slow. the end result was mysery for all, but hey with an iq of 60 nobody remembered enough to care. i'm with you, i don't want a life where we're all carbon copies

I get frustrated with myself sometimes and want to rebuild all of it, (after all, we have the technology LOL) but I really wouldn't want to. In fact, as much as I want all this stupid weight off, I value the parts of me that wouldn't exist at all had I not ever fought this battle. I would rather, for instance, but obese but love everyone and have compassion and see the good in everyone, rather than be skinny and beautiful and shallow and narcissistic...not that all skinny people are, but lets face it , they are out there...

I realize our weight isn't good for our health and can cause us all sorts of health issues as well as shorten our lives so losing weight is good for us.....but will we be a "lost civilization" in the future? Let's say they come up with a way to tell prospective parents that their child will have a weight issue and do you want to abort your pregnancy so you don't have a "fat" kid? Some of us reading this would not be here now depending on what our parents would decide! The future of science and medicine just makes me wonder......

Please don't abort fat babies, I came into this world 10lb 2oz. I don't want to be a drom either, I like me, I want to be healthy, and live life to the fullest.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
