I guess I just want to let off some steam. Once again I had to listen to some Doctor complaining about childhood obesity. He had all the theories centering around lazy couch potato kids and sugary snacks. Has any one thought to consider just what kind of a world we gave our kids and grandkids? You wouldnt dare allow you children to run the streets like we used to. Child molesters are now in every community. We used to go on hikes, play ball, ride bikes, and often be gone the entire day. We could swim in the river, fish, or walk five miles to see the new Kmart. No wonder the kids are heavy, it just isnt safe for them to be out alone any more. They are forced to sit on the couch and play video games, instead of exercising. We have plea bargained violent crime to a place where molesters will take their chances with the courts or easy Judges. In years gone by rape was grounds for hanging. Today it MIGHT get a perpatrator a couple years behind bars. Hanging was never nice, but there were no repeat offenders. I wont blame a political party, we are all at fault. We allowed this outrage to happen. We need to have tougher laws and no plea bargains for violent crime. Thanks for listening.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
If our laws nailed offenders butts to the wall a little more often then the rest of us wouldn't have to suffer!
God Bless!

I agree with some of what you are saying...
BUT...there are tons of activities that kids can participate in that are well supervised. For example, there are youth sports teams, karate, play centers, hiking, swimming, jumping rope (in the garage if necessary), etc.
I've got 50 pounds to lose myself. I currently weigh about 197-200 pounds and am 5'3. I finally made up my mind that I would get involved with him. When he's taking karate, I'm taking kickbox in the back room. When he's swimming I'm outside walking the track.
It's defintely not easy. I just got remarried and was a single mom for 4 years.
But just like Dr. Phil said yesterday it's not about what's easy for us as parents...it's about what's best for the children.
I just want to say that Pollypurebread (Underdogs Girl Friend) is absolutely right. Out here in NM you see the results on the Indian reservations. Diabetes on the res is at a whopping 50%! The reasons are obvious, they cant afford good quality food. Their diet has a lot of fatty meats and high carbs, (because its all they can afford) much the same as Polly's inner city kids. I missed that point earlier and thanks to all that mentioned it.
Wouldnt it be nice if some of that foreign aid money sent to countries that want to kill us were used at home, to help feed the poor?
God Bless!
