Good morning everyone,
My name is Patty Hall and I am a recent addition to the Neuropathy Team. As a research nurse with experience working with the FDA, the National Institute of Health and various drug companies, I hope to bring you information about studies being done in the field of neuropathy. I find these interesting as I also have this problem, in my lower limbs due to narrowing of the spinal canal.
Today, I want to tell you about the study I am conducting with an ocologist here in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Larry Pawl has over twenty years of experience and is known throughout our region as a caring and cutting edge physician. One of the things Dr. Pawl noticed in his practice is the effects of Chemotherapy in cancer patients, pointedly the neuropathy that develops during and after treatment. He consulted a pain specialist, Dr. Mark Gostine, and after two years of researching the files of the Library of Congress, they found that five basic nutrients helped in the treatment of neuropathy.
Those five--Vitamin C, Selenium, L-Carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid and N-Acetyl--were the basis of our first study. Over a period of three months, cancer patients with Chemo-induced neuropathy were given the supplement. Diabetic patients were also included because the reason for the neuropathy were the same. At the end of our first study, we found that patients reported a 63% improvement of their burning pain and a 56% improvement in overall pain levels.
I am mow in the process of completing a long term study with neuropathy patients who have been taking the supplement for more than a year. Raw data indicates that patients who have had neuropathy for less than five years have improved between 70-90% while on the supplement.
I am also seeking candidates for a new study. Patients who have residual neuropathy caused by the following agents:
All supplements will be supplied free of charge, all that is required is an initial ten minute interview and three follow-up interviews. You must also have completed chemotherapy.
