I'm new to this..but I'm hoping I can get some help from those of you that have been on xyrem and understand it. I have been diagnosed with Narcolepsy since April, but I just got my blood tests back and they are positive for both narcolepsy and cataplexy. My doctor decided that my only option for now is xyrem. I am a college student and have a very different schedual day to day, and don't have a fixed bed or wake up time each day. will this be a problem? Also my biggest issue with Xyrem is the fact that it is the date-rape drug (GHB). and I know i will be very careful with it and everything, but I'm a 20 year old college student is it even a good idea for me to put myself in that situation at all? I've been there before and though it's not clear if I was drugged then or not, I'm not sure how ready I am to willingly put myself at risk for that again. but having said all that I know I need better sleep at night. and I know the benifits that could come from something like Xyrem. I have struggled with my narcolepsy and this seems like the perfect opportunity for me to go back to a somewhat normal life... any suggestions or reassurances?
