I had another sleep test. This time it was so noisy because they were doing construction above my room at the sleep center during the MSLT. They said if I really have Narcolepsy I would fall asleep and go into REM no matter how mush noise there was. Does anyone know if this is true?

i think it would depend on how severe your narcolepsy is and how easily you fall asleep. some days i could sleep through a nuclear blast, others i can only rest my eyes and listen to music, b/c there is no chance of me falling asleep. (though this usually happens when i sleep badly the night before. if i sleep well, then i have no trouble taking my naps. if i sleep badly due to pain or whatever, then i'm extremely tired, but my body won't shut down)

It is NOT true. My tests was ruled narcolepsy and I only actually fell asleep 2 of naptimes. f you didnt sleep during the naptimes, your REM from the night before should give data.

I just got my official diagnosis yesterday for my narcolepsy. When i had the night time study, my stuff went off the charts bascially. But for the MLST test, they said i didn't go into rem sleep at all, but i remember having a dream with every nap that i had. But with my results, they talked about the arousals of the brain and i had like 350 of those during that night time sleep, and also, my brain woke itself up 50 times, 50 times during my sleep. Besides all my symptoms, just those episodes alone confirmed the narolepsy, beside all my other symptoms of the EDS..I fall asleep really fast, my time into sleep was less than ten minutes, 7.4 minutes and i was out... hung around in the other stages longer than normal, but it was the arousals and uars, and the amount of times my brain woke up without me knowing about it. I hope that i don't have to go back for another study for awhile.

mm.... think it is quite true actually, with narcolepsy it is not just being tired, your brain transfers into rem sleep too quick to control, cataplexy is the same, it just overtakes you, no matter what you are doing. However, I am aroused from sleep by high pitched tones, maybe you are affecxted by base tones and this affected your results. They can repeat the test if you ask them to. it is recommende if they are not sure of a stable result. good luck, and hope you get sorted!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
