Does anyone here know of any assistance available to get the narcoleptic diagnosis? I have it, there's no doubt, and truthfully I've had it since I was a baby. But it's getting to the point where I could very easily kill myself in the car or with the sleepwalking, the blackouts and the microsleeps. There are other times when it has created extremely dangerous situations that have to do with the sleep paralysis.
I'm 31 years old, have had this my whole life, but was always told that I was just a depressed, moody child. My mother took me into the doctors office at 6 months because I was sleeping excessively and the doctors told her I was depressed at 6 months old. This is getting to critical mass and I'm afraid if I don't get some medical help I'm going to end up getting myself killed.
I'd also like to have the possibility of one day being a long term, productive member of society. As of yet, that hasn't really been able to happen. I feel like I'm going half crazy with fatigue. But I can't afford the doctor without a job, and I can't really hold down a job long enough to get a diagnosis and treatment without a doctor.
Anybody know of any solutions?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
dont rely on work to sort the problem out...
It nearly destroyed my life, I lost my house and long term partner of 7yrs to the diease and also 4yrs...
dont let it get that far, go to you GP and explain the symptons and say you would like tests done for sleeping disorders.
Once your medicated its surprising how much of your life gets back to how it should be...
dont lose any more time ...
