Hi, I haven't posted for a while. I was diagnosed with Myofascial Pain Syndrome (neck, upper back and shoulders) two years ago. My pain levels are chronic, excruciating and made worse by working in front of a computer. Because of this, my pain doctor told me, and I always believed, that poor posture was causing my muscle problems. Thousands spent on chiros, physios, etc. with good improvement in my posture but no improvement in my pain levels? Then a few months ago I got onto a book by John Sarno about emotional problems causing myofascial pain syndromes and I really believed this was my problem since no other reason could be found to explain the pain. However, I worked through a program to cure mind/body disorder and this didn't help. I went back to my family doctor at my wits end and had a break down in his office. He prescribed Clonazepam (I think its called Klonopin in the States). I have been on .5 mg in the morning and .5 at night. Although I feel a little tired, my pain levels are improved by 90%. I dont care if the medication is bad for me or addictive or anything else - it is giving me profound relief from two years of relentless suffering, and I am able to work and live my life. My doctor says that this med is not as toxic for me as narcotic pain killers which I had been relying on and off for two years. It's a low lose and he is not concerned about ongoing use. I feel so much better and like a different person. Just wanted to share what I found to help this horrible condition that was ruining my life.
