Im Brand new to this. Just diagnosed 10 days ago and am now on Betaseron. I have been out of work now for almost a month. I have no leave left, and am asking for donated leave now. I just started "barely" driving because I have numbness on my enitre right side of my body. Im in accounting and definatley am having issues with typing and using the calculator. Fed Govt has no short term disability for me. Do I retire now after 23 years of civil service or do I go back and struggle thru it until my leave runs out and they have to put me on LWOP? Im so confused and the HR people are ruthless,,,,any advice would be appreciated.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
You don't need the stress from the HR people wish I was there I'd talk to them.
You have RIGHTS and PROTECTION.
1) CALL EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) tel# 800 669 9400 if HR does not want to help you they could be facing Federal Fines.
2) Have your Neuro fill out FMLA **ASAP**(Family Medical Leave Act) then give to HR if you take off for your illness they cannot fire you.
*What is LWOP?
If you decide to leave work:
(this is up to you - are getting worse from working/stress?)
And if you have no long/short term disability you can file SSI (depending on your family income)- while waiting for SSDI.
Message me if you want to talk more. You sound so sick and I cannot believe how cruel some people are. You are a hardworking person and no one should treat you like that.

this has to be really hard for you, with not dealling with this for very long.
after all these year's,could you talk to someone to maybe doing some partime work for now. these symptom's are new to you and they could change.i'm not a dr.,but i've had experience with this after having ms for 15 yrs.
symptom's may not always stay the same.what kind of ms do you have?relapsing/remmiting?that's what i had in the beginning.
don't forget this is all new to you and you are probably so overwhelmed right now with alot of thing's.
maybe you can take on less work load?there may be a few different thing's that they could help you with.darn i hope they're willing to give you a chance,so you can see how much you can do right now.it may be only a temporary symptom.
i have friend's who have ms really bad (not taking anything away from what you're dealing with)and they manage to compensate on doing task's.
it's all very new.why don't you give it a chance first to see how thing's go.
then take it from there.
i don't know how long you've had these symptom's.
wish i could be more help to you.i wish you lot's of luck!
If I do not go back after 2 years off I will have to retire with 14 years. I will get hit with a huge penalty. If I can make it to 15 years my disability retirement will be sweet.
Hope all goes better for you.
