Question about Caretakers....

What if no Caretaker??? I am 36 yrs old with no significant other. Do I really need a caretaker? Most of my friends have 'drifted' away (wonder why, huh?). Most of my co-workers don't know I have MS and don't really think it would change anything if they did... Dating is difficult, and blah blah blah....

Do I really need a caretaker? My parents are in their 70's. I have one older brother but he is married and I don't want to impose.

Again, do I really need a caretaker???

I have primary progressive and would be in a nursing home if it were not for my caretakers. Maybe you don't need one right now, but in the future...who knows

I should have said "I wish I had someone in my life that could be a caretaker". Currently my mom is there for me, but what happens when she is gone?

how bad are your symptoms now??? if your still able to work and don't need a caregiver now then there is no way of knowing if you will later in life.m.s. progresses differently for everyone.some of us will be very capable of taking care of ourselves later in life and others won't.
a healthy person can get in a car wreck and need a caretaker to.theres no sure answer

Join MS Support Group make some friends they can call or email you to check in. ALso maybe your Church or NMSS can provide a peer program. I have two MS friends that I talk to or visit with we check on each other. You can make new friends. The ones I lost never were friends.

You can learn how to take care of your own basic needs most of the time no matter how bad off you get.

I don't cook - no feeling in left arm & from chest down. Only have use of right arm. Cutting & burning myself is a danger. I do have an aide that comes 30 hours a week to bathe & clean & prepare meals. I am bed or wheelchair bound.

Just remember, as the Baby Boomers age, more gadgets will become available & the price for them will go down. Who would have thought a one handed key board would be available on any computer for free.

If you can't figure out how to do something, ask. Lots of good resources here.

    theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
