After going for my yearly physical and learning that I had high blood pressure, despite watching my diet, exercising and doing what I thought was the best things to take care of myself, my doctor explained to me that when you have a disease such as MS it leaves you predisposed to other things such as heart disease, high bp, diabetes, etc.. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I feel it could also just be getting older and the normal things that begin to change in our bodies.

A friend sent this to me..As far as I can see, grief will never truly end.It may become softer overtime, more gentleand some days will feel sharp. But grief will last as long as Love does - ForeverIt's simply the way the absence of your loved onemanifests in your heart. A deep longing accompaniedby the deepest Love some days. The heavy fog mayreturn and the next day, it may recede.Once again, it's...

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
My aspiration is a side effect of MS because it effects my swallowing. Food goes into lungs instead of stomach. Copaxone can cause cholesterol changes.
"I feel it could also just be getting older and the normal things that begin to change in our bodies."
A lot of it is that!
What your doctor is trying to say is, "Don't Go To Hell In A Hand Basket".
Take care of yourself and live life.
An MS patient may be using a cane.
How many others without MS use a cane?
Glasses. That's a given to anyone along with high blood pressure, diabetes, aches and pains.
We are all feeling it!
We are just like anyone else!
I have MS.
Someone has cancer.
Another has diabetes.
Another was hit by a bus just stepping into the busy street.
We all have the aches and pains and medications. That's life!
I think that the major issue I have - MS could have been worse if dealt another deck of life's cards.
8 years now...grin.. i am on both vasotec and norvasc for the blood pressure...and really don't expect to get off the medication until the 14 year old is through puberty...sigh...
I also have intractable epilepsy for which i take 3 anti epileptic meds.. and one back up med so i don't go into status..
then we add in the getting old...grin.. arthritis.. B-12 shot each month..glasses...etc...
I must say though in all seriousness that through all my Dr's and i have quite the line up... two Nero's.. a bone specialist on call.. etc..etc.. that no one has ever told me that high blood pressure can be attributed to the MS..
But by all means if you find any articles on this i would be interested in the links...if you would pass them along..
hugs

Now if I break something I can blame the MS...hehe
I think you should ask exactly WHY she has to go in every 2 weeks and see what she says. I would LOVE to know the answer. If it doesn't sound like a good reason to you, then you might want to tell her she is being overly cautious having her go in every 2 weeks! That ends up being a lot of co-pays!Seriously, unless she is high-risk for some other reasons, is she maybe?
Good luck
