Hi Missy..I'm not sure if it's related to my Copaxone use or not, but prior to DX I was very allergic to cats. Since my DX I have very few issues. Only if I have been petting the cats and then rub my eyes....almost a miracle! I wonder if it's our overactive immune systems or the meds?

I never thought of that! But, I always had horrible allergies and took 2 pill rx and 1 nasal spray rx and 1 eye drop rx for years and this year, I only had to do the eye drops a couple of times and 1 pill a couple of times. I thought maybe I just outgrew them.

When I was a kid and was tested the doc said the spots where they tested "lit up like a Christmas tree."

My eyes used to swell so much the bottom lid would turn inside out. And I once had a horrible reaction to an allergy shot and my eyes swelled shut and my throat swelled too. That was scary!

Same for me. I went for tests 2/2003 to see what my allergies were so I could avoid them. I thought my reactions changed so I got another batch ran in September this year. My environmental allergies are pretty much the same. My Food allergies are all gone.

I'm so glad you guys are sharing....I had been tested about 2 years ago--I was like a christmas tree...with the cat one being the topper. I just spent a whole week around two cats--one that would sneak in and sleep with me...nothing.

Oh wow! I started Avonex last January and went off alergy meds in Oct and this should be my bad season and they have not been bad at all I only use px eye drops and occ Benadryl. Only thing that bothers me now is cigarette smoke never thought of the connection. This is a real positive. Hope this is not a wishful thinking, because my alergies have always been harsh to deal with.

okay,that seems to make sense.. but my allergies have not only NOT gone away, they have gotten worse. {I take that back my low grade allery to cats has gone away.} But I am not actually allergic to things like dogs or such. I am allergic to the natual world of the state of OH ( mold, pollen, smoke etc) I develeoped a kicking case-o-asthma this summer. This is an interesting line of thought! hugs, Hats

Before dx my allergies had pretty much disappeared. Once I was dx and started Avonex, my allergies came back stronger than they have ever been! Hmmmm...seems if you had severe allergies when dx with MS that they got better and if the allergies weren't severe at diagnosis they soon became so. I'm not sure about the cats, though. I am allergic to them, but haven't tested out the allergic reaction since my dx.
